Southern Polytechnic State University

polytech_logo.pngThe staff at Marietta NDT assisted in the development of the new Mechatronics Engineering program at Southern Polytechnic which combines the mechanical, electrical, and computer science disciplines. Graduates with this degree go into industry armed with the skill-set needed to support today’s manufacturing and production systems.

Daryle Higginbotham current serves as the Southern Polytechnic Foundation president and is a 1989 graduate of the university.

GA BEST Robotics

robotics_logo.pngBEST Robotics is a non–profit volunteer organization which began in Dallas, Texas in 1993 to motivate students to pursue careers in engineering, science and technology. Dr. Glenn Allen of Southern Polytechnic State University has been instrumental in promoting this program in Georgia, and has served as its Director since 2003.

Southern Polytechnic has hosted the event the past three years, and students from around the state, with the support of their parents and home town teachers and friends, come to compete in a variety of areas. By offering this competition, Dr. Allen has been able to promote Georgia’s technical colleges like Southern Polytechnic and has also had the opportunity to encourage high school and middle school students to explore the field of engineering, and specifically Mechanical Engineering Technology, as a field of study and a career choice. Marietta NDT has gladly sponsored this event for several years both financially and by offering employees as advisors and judges.
